First custom order and what happpens!!!!

Well, I had my first custom order for a ceramic yarn bowl. No problem.  I got busy on my wheel and threw two very nice bowls for the pieces I wanted. I was satisfied and I let them dry and trimmed them and proceeded to get them to the studio to fire them. I wrapped them carefully in some material and placed them on the front seat of the truck. I even made sure to tell a certain someone to be careful that my pottery was sitting there. I moved them because he didn't want them in the truck since he was going deer hunting early in the morning. I got in the house and was unwrapping them, only to discover that he had cracked and broken both bowls. Just the customer's pieces, not the ones I had made miscellaneously. It took me a while to get over being mad at him, but I finally did. Now I just have to make more and buy some new clay, cause I'm out! $60.00 gone-poof!

Sunday Excitement

Well today was very fun and exciting for the simple reason I had an order on my Etsy shop. Not that it was ordinary, it was special in a new way. I received an order fro one of my pottery pieces all the way from London, England! How cool is that! Very cool seeing how the Olympics are there presently! I thought that was really pretty neat and lots of fun. Made my day and me me feel really good. Yippee!<big grin> more later tomorrow, nite all.

Storms, rain wash internet service away.

Well yesterdays plan for adding new listings quickly went down the drain. I guess because of the constant storms and rain there was no getting on the internet until way late in the evening.  (so much for productive marketing)  Shall try again today better luck this time,la,la,la,la,la ......... Long day

Well I guess the interview was a good boost to the number of visitors I had look at my shop, 163. hmmm?
Not posting much since i am very tired. I did get some absolutely beautiful glaze results back from the most recent firing. Very pleased about the colors! More later =)

New exposure from Etsy interview "Designer of the Day"

Well here we go. I am happily anticipating an enormous jump in my shop views from this interview, I pray it will do lots of good! Certainly cant hurt =) right? Well today is the first day of August. My daughter is going to be here in a week. I can't wait to spend some more time with her. She is in the Navy at A Afb, Aviation Structural mechanic. She has an interesting job, she has the talents and mechanical abilities from her father.

Fairly recent pottery piece. Ginger,  Stephen's cat just would not stay out of the camera shot that day when I was working so I included her. This piece is not an image of a real Ginger jar, but I used that in the title because of her being so inquisitive!

Teams and Forums on Etsy

I have been working on editing new listings and taking tons of photographs for several new items to appear on Etsy.   My good friend Elise just added her exquisite photography shop to Etsy. PhotsbyElise. Good job Elise, I cant wait for your shop to take off.

I also join a new group called " Circle of Friends" and it has been great fun and lots of learning.  Grandma of Grandmacrochetcotta is the team leader for this fun bunch. What fun we have had lately. I have made several new friends and lots of new threads to visit.

also Working on a about myself interview, hope that goes well. Each day I feel I'm getting closer to "quitting my day job". hehehe  Keep smiling friends.

Activity for new Etsy shop

    I opened my shop officially on May 2nd this year it was four years ago that I "started" it.  Because Mom was sick it was on the back burner. I'm pleased because things are starting to happen. I have my regular job *WORK* ha ha, then my real work. I try to post new listings each day. When I am not doing that I am taking photo's to post  for the listings. Editing of the pictures is very time consuming as well as the detailed descriptions of the products I am listing to sell. Finding more time to throw is becoming a challenging! Last Wednesday i think i spent all of 5 or 6 hours working on my website. Most of the entire day I was on the computer.
    Success, my promoting and Treasury Lists on Esty are beginning to pay off. My hits are becoming more and more and my circle of other Etsy members/artists is growing. We all start small then, grow, grow, grow. :-) I was delighted when some kind soul featured my shop on their treasury list, very exciting for the first time! She lives in Poland!! Simply amazing. Then that really started things rolling, one list then two, now three! but the exposure and attention is like a ripple effect, it's awesome. I had three jewelry orders from Sheryl , thank you Sheryl! Off to a great start, then on Tuesday after work I was checking my shops "stats" and it said REVENUE $$ I 'bout dropped the cell phone(smiling)!! My first sale was my beautiful large Celadon mixing bowl. I sent it merrily on it's way to it's new kitchen.
   I have met some really neat women lately on Etsy,and thank you all for your kind words and advise. Lynn  and Belinda just to name a few. And of course thanks to Jeffrey I! Bye for now.
